The 5 Easiest Mountains to Climb

2. The Decalibron Loop Near Fairplay, Colorado

This beginner’s hiking experience is great all year round, but plan to make this an all-day hike! The trail offers an easy walk-up hitting the highest elevation at just under 14,000 feet. This mountain trail was awarded five stars in several hiker reviews, and even serious hikers love the Decalibron Loop for its breathtaking views.

1. Flattop Mountain, Rocky Mountain National Park

Flattop Mountain is one of the easiest climbs for beginner hikers, with and elevation of just over 12,300 feet on a trail leading all the way to the top. Hikers achieving the summit catch great scenery and awesome views. Trails in the spring, summer and fall are mostly snow free all the way to Dream Lake Overlook. Hikers need to start early to avoid mushy snow conditions during the late day. Plan to hike nearly nine miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 2,800 feet.
